Hello, nice to meet you!
My name is Akanksha Kalra. I was born in New Delhi, India and lived there until the age of 21. I moved to the UK in 2008 to pursue higher education. I was born with complete fusion of lumbar vertebrae and scoliosis of the lumbar spine. Chronic debilitating pain significantly affected my life limiting even my ability to walk. I refused surgery for the risks of complications were significant.
A dedicated Ashtanga Yoga practice of over 15 years, Ayurvedic diet and lifestyle, and Ayurvedic healing modalities and herbs have helped me to alleviate the severe pain, discomfort and disability caused by the fused vertebrae and scoliosis, improving the quality of my life significantly.
In 2018, I left an established corporate career to venture fully into the field of health and wellbeing, completing advanced studies in Ayurveda in Kerala (India) and London.
After 13 years of practicing Yoga, in 2024 the journey deepened through completing a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training. This path now brings together the combined wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda—the sister sciences of India, traditionally meant to be practiced together.
I am now dedicated to sharing the power of Yoga and Ayurveda and it will be my honour and privilege to help you restore balance in body, mind and spirit if you chose to work with me.
PHILOSOPHY
PURNAM, a concept within Hindu philosophy, is where I draw my inspiration from. It is the understanding that everything is whole, complete, and nothing is missing. It points to a deeper truth that what may feel incomplete or broken is still part of a greater wholeness. As is the body, so is the universe. Everything arises from this universal wholeness, and everything remains whole. Nothing is lacking in the world, and not within.
A grounded reminder that fulfilment is not something to chase, but something to recognise, and that healing begins with a shift in perspective that, at the deepest level, nothing is truly lacking or broken.
“Health is not something to build from scratch, but something to return to.”
Love and respect,
Akanksha
